New part of the Website: Field Trip Lesson Plan
I will be doing a lesson plan for a field trip to a local recycling center. I will be finding 3 websites to help with the planning of the field trip, and then a lesson plan for the actual day of the field trip will be included. :)

Website!
so... thinking about how to make this website amazing is hard!
What to include, how to make it flow... We have to make sure we answer as many questions as possible!
Here we go!
Have a Happy Thanksgiving

In class today
Marissa,
In class today Mary and I worked on the home page for our website. We all need to get together to figure out who is doing what. If you could look up some standards that we could use that would be amazing! We talked to Professor Peterson and she said that she will be here Monday the 22nd so we can work on it together. See ya then!

My absence
Hi girls!
So Sorry that I cannot be in class today, I had some other things that needed priority this morning. I will be there next week, and if we need to meet up this week or something we can try to make that happen.
Let me know what you need me to get done for the website!
Talk soon!

Mary's Podcast Script
Hi Parents! This is Miss Hitt. I am a third grade teacher at Silver Lake Elementary.
So far we have been doing some great activities with recycling. One in which the students really enjoyed was “Trash into Treasures”. In the project students split up into groups and came up with ideas of things they could make out of items they throw away every day. At the end of the project each group presented the item they had made in front of the class, and also went over what this item would be used for, and what kind of people benefit from this item. This is great because not only are your children practicing creativity, working with others, computer skills and public speaking, but they are also discovering how to make our world a nicer place. The students as a class have also watched some great videos made by us teachers, informing them on how to recycle and the importance of doing so. I am very excited about this unit and the students seem to be enjoying it too.
Now, I’d like to introduce Miss Newcomb who will be going over our main goal for this unit.

Podcast: Marissa's Podcast Script! :)
Welcome Parents of third graders at Silver Lake Elementary. This podcast is just for you as parents to know what your children are up to in the classrooms. I’m Ms. Ingle one of the three third grade teachers in our school district.
We are working our way through a unit on recycling. We are incorporating many subject areas in the work that the students are completing. We are calling the combinations of subject areas, and uses of technology, and multiple learning styles addressed in our unit: Project Based Learning. This is a new movement in the teaching world where students take a larger role in the learning process with different pieces of a whole to compete a collaborative work of art.
Recycling is a large concept to undertake, and we as a group of teachers are working together to make this unit seem cohesive. I have begun the unit with helping the students learn to research effectively in our school’s computer lab, organize and understand where and what can be recycled at certain places in their community.
Students will have already begun brainstorming and researching about where they can recycle, what they can recycle, and they are also completing surveys from other students and teachers in the school to see where they recycle their recyclable materials.
This unit has posed for amazing learning experiences to happen in the classroom. Students are becoming more fluent in their computer skills, and they communicate with their classmates to present their findings from research. And lastly, students are using their social skills to interview peers, teachers and even family members to gain a deeper understanding of the necessity of recycling in our local community.
This unit will open our student’s eyes about the global impact that they can have by starting recycling programs in their school and community to better the world they live in.
Now, I’d like to introduce Ms. Hitt who will be introducing what students are up to in the classroom with projects and ideas about what recycling can mean to them directly here in their own classrooms.
